[Poll] Which Idol Couple Are You Looking Forward to the Most on ‘The Romantic & Idol’?

What happens on Jeju Island, stays on Jeju Island...

...or does it?

The Romantic & Idol, tvN’s upcoming revamped dating program, is set to premiere on November 11, aka Pepero Day (how appropriate), where eight, single idol stars will set off on a romantic getaway to Jeju Island with the hopes of returning to Seoul...not so single.

Our guess is as good as yours as to which idol stars cupid will strike, but based on a few leads provided by the teasers released earlier this month as well as the idol stars’ ideal types revealed on the show’s website, we’ve sniffed out a few potential pairs.

And now it’s time for you, the readers, to get involved!

For this week’s poll, we want to know which potential idol couple’s blossoming romance you’re looking forward to seeing the most.

ZE:A’s Hyung Sik and 4minute’s Nam Ji Hyun

The teaser featuring ZE:A’s Hyung Sik tying 4minute leader Nam Ji Hyun’s hair is enough to make any girl’s heart flutter, and we think the two make a pretty cute couple.

But are they meant to be?

Nam Ji Hyun revealed, “My ideal guy is someone who doesn’t have double eyelids, like Rain! Has broad shoulders, tall and someone who’s understanding and assertive! If I get a boyfriend, I want to get couple rings and go on an amusement park date.”

What does Hyung Sik look for in a girl? The ZE:A member said, “An energetic girl who can move me! An intelligent girl I can communicate really well with. If I get a girlfriend like this, I’m going to go on a trip abroad and do everything she asks me to. Seeing a lovely couple while going from schedule to schedule makes me want to date too.”

Okay, what girl doesn’t want to date Rain, but you can’t go wrong with a guy who doesn’t sweat at the sight of a hair tie. Plus Hyung Sik is tall. Check!

JJ Project’s JB and Fiestar’s Jei

We caught a glimpse of JJ Project’s JB and Fiestar’s Jei enjoying a romantic stroll in the teaser as well. Do we see an idol couple in the making?

Jei spilled, “My ideal guys are Korea’s representative fashion icons Yoo Ah In and G-Dragon! If I get a boyfriend, I want to make and eat delicious foods and go on dates at the zoo and by the beach.”

Meanwhile, JB said, “Are there any girls out there who are cute and have a pretty smile like A Pink’s Jung Eun Ji? I tend to express my feelings honestly, and if I get a girlfriend, I want to travel abroad.”

We’re going to go with a ‘yes,’ JB. Jei’s smile is kind of adorable.

2PM’s Jun.K and AOA’s Hyejeong

The producers may have dropped a few hints regarding two potential couples, but they’ve decided to keep 2PM member Jun.K’s love line a huge secret.

So, we’re putting our detective skills to the test for this one.

Everything is, of course, up in the air, but we’re going to take Ji Hyun and Jei out of the running for now, which means we’re left with AOA’s Hyejeong and Rainbow’s Seung Ah.

Jun.K said of his ideal type, “I like someone with a pretty, bright smile. I look at a girl’s eyes first. If I get a girlfriend, I want to drive around listening to music and gift her with a song that contains my honest feelings.”

Okay, that clue got us nowhere. However, Jun.K speaks banmal (informally) in the teaser, which leads us to believe the girl is either the same age or younger than him. But because it’s still easier to talk informally to someone younger, especially someone you’ve met for the first time, we’re going to to go out on a limb and say it’s Hyejeong.

But does Jun.K fit Hyejeong’s bill? She revealed, “My ideal guys are the sentimental and humorous Gong Yoo and g.o.d’s Kim Tae Woo! I’m not the type to fall in love at first site but as I spend time with that person.”

Jun.K writes songs, Hyejeong. Sentimental is Jun.K.

MBLAQ’s Mir and Rainbow’s Seung Ah

This means we’re left with wildcards Mir of MBLAQ and Rainbow’s Oh Seung Ah.

Mir said of his ideal type, “My ideal girl is Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon! If I get a girlfriend, I want to give her apples from my hometown Jangseong. What worries me the most about dating is...going to the bathroom?”

Oh Seung Ah revealed, “My ideal guy is family man Cha In Pyo! If I get a boyfriend, I want to kiss, hang love locks at Namsan Tower, go on a beach date and receive a huge stuffed bear as a present. If I meet a male idol I’m interested in, I would confidently date in public!”

Mir is already talking about his hometown and going to the bathroom. I think we have a family man on our hands, Seung Ah!

You’ll have to tune in to the show when it premieres on November 11 to find out if we’re on the right track, but, in the meantime, vote away and let us know which idol couple you can’t wait to see!

[Poll] Which Collab Would You Like to See at This Year’s ‘MAMA’?

The 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards is expected to be one of the biggest music events of the year, so for this week’s poll, we’re thinking big as we bring to you some of the dream collaborations we’d love to see at this year’s show (Note: this is all speculation!).

We think some of these combos would make for an epic show, and we can’t think of a better place for K-Pop history to be made than at this year’s MAMA.

So read on, and let us know which artists you’d like to see take the stage together this year!

PSY & G-Dragon - Get Yo Crayon Gangnam Style

We love Skydragon, but we think Psydragon could be the next big thing.

Just when we thought there’s no way Psy can possibly outdo himself at this point in his career, it hit us. Psy and G-Dragon. Together on one stage. Getting their cray on Gangnam Style. Psy may be a pretty big deal now, but if this collaboration were to ever happen, it’d be explosive.

Although we’d have to time this just right, so Psy and G-Dragon take the stage together before the winner of the Best Male Artist Award, which both YG Entertainment artists are nominated for, is announced.

Super Junior & Trouble Maker - Sexy, Free & Single Trouble Maker

Ever wonder what would happen if a couple sexy, free and single boys got together with a few trouble makers? All we know is it’d be baaad (for the record, we mean the good kind of bad).

Super Junior has already confirmed it will be showing face at this year’s show, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a Trouble Maker appearance. Because wherever Jang Hyun Seung and Hyuna go, trouble follows - just ask anyone who saw the kiss performance they pulled at last year’s show.

The boy to girl ratio may be overwhelming, but somehow, we think Hyuna can handle it.

Big Bang & CN Blue - Hey You, Fantastic Baby

A little random, maybe, but that’s exactly why we think this next collaboration could be epic.

The Rolling Stones meets The Beatles epic. Okay, maybe we’re getting a little ahead of ourselves, and the analogy may not be sound musically, but there’s something about the collision of K-Pop’s representative bad boys and boys-next-door that makes us giddy.

To add to the competitive spirit, Big Bang and CN Blue are both up for the Best Global Group - Male Award this year as well as the Best Male Group and Best Band Performance awards, respectively.

And you have to admit, Hey You, Fantastic Baby has a nice ring to it, no?

TVXQ & Infinite - Chaser, Catch Me

TVXQ has been singing Catch Me for the latter part of this year, while Infinite was all about The Chaser earlier this year. See where we’re going with this?

It’s a match made in K-Pop collaboration heaven, if you ask us.

In addition to the Song and Artist of the Year Awards, TVXQ is up for Best Male Group and Best Global Group - Male, while Infinite is up for Song of the Year for The Chaser as well as Best Dance Performance.

We’d love for these hardworking idol groups to take home an award this year, and an impeccably-synchronized TVXQ-Infinite collaboration would be the cherry on top.

Shinhwa & Kara - Venus and Pandora

Shinhwa is considered to be a living legend by idol group standards, and with Kara housing one self-proclaimed goddess, we thought this collaboration would be nothing short of magical.

The two groups’ hit singles were also coincidentally inspired by mythological figures, which means destiny. At least, we think so.

Shinhwa is putting up a good fight in the polls for Best Male Group as well as Artist of the Year, while Kara is up for Best Female Group and Artist of the Year.

We’ll have to wait and see until the big show to see if the gods are on their side, but in the meantime, we’ll be daydreaming about this heavenly collaboration.

TaeTiSeo & B2ST - Twinkle Beautiful Night

Male idol groups seem to be dominating our list so far, but that’s all about to change, as we’re throwing the girls of TaeTiSeo into the mix. Because who better to light up B2ST’s Beautiful Night than the TaeTiSeo girls with their hit song Twinkle?

Both groups lit up the year with their upbeat songs and colorful performances, so we think it’d be double the fun if TaeTiSeo and B2ST partied it up together on stage.

TaeTiSeo has been nominated for Best Female Group as well as Artist of the Year at this year’s MAMA, while B2ST is in the running to take home the Best Male Group, Best Global Group - Male, Best Dance Performance as well as Song and Artist of the Year awards (whew!).

B.A.P & f(x) - Electric Crash

One word comes to mind at the thought of a B.A.P and f(x) collaboration at this year’s MAMA. You guessed it - daebak.

B.A.P lightened up its warrior-like image with single Crash, and we think this playful side of the boys would suit f(x)’s funky image well.

B.A.P is up for the Best New Male Artist as well as the Artist of the Year awards. Meanwhile, f(x) is leading in the polls for Best Global Group - Female and Best Dance Performance - Female Group, as well as in the running for Song of the Year for Electric Shock.

Which collaboration would you like to see at this year’s MAMA? Let us know by voting below!

[Poll] Who Do You Want to See Kiss at the 2012 MAMA?

With the Mnet Asian Music Awards swiftly approaching, K-Pop fans are waiting to see who will show up, what they′ll wear and who′ll win awards - but what MAMA is undeniably most famous for are its issue-making performances.

For the past few years, MAMA has brought together some of the hottest acts in the industry - Lee Hyori and Big Bang, Hyuna and Jang Hyun Seung as Trouble Maker and Ivy and 2PM′s Nichkhun, to name a few.

And while not all the collaboration performances have resulted in lip-on-lip action, it′s happened enough so that fans are expecting something bigger and better this year - so we decided to round up a few couples we′d love to see kiss on the now-infamous MAMA stage. (All speculative, of course!)

Seo In Guk and Infinite′s Hoya

With reports that there will be a male couple performance this year, it′s not too far of a reach to imagine that the stars of this stage might be Seo In Guk and Hoya.

We considered putting Seo In Guk and Jung Eun Ji up as contestants, but, come on - they′ve had their fair share of kisses, while Hoya was consistently shafted in Reply 1997.

Plus, Seo In Guk recently acted as his own version of the ignored gay best friend in K.Will′s music video - it′s clear that both of these men need to get some sort of action, pronto.

Super Junior′s Eunhyuk & IU

We know, we know - most people aren′t too happy about the Eunhyuk-IU photo, but you have to admit, it was huge news in 2012.

While IU′s reps have denied any sort of romantic relationship with the Super Junior members, many fans (and critics) are still in a state of disbelief.

And hey, even if the two aren′t dating, and really are just friends, what better way to shut up all the haters than to share a friendly peck on stage? No one will be able to say that they′re not afraid to stand up to rumors!

f(x)′s Sulli and SHINee′s Minho

You′re Beautiful may be over and f(x)′s Sulli and SHINee′s Minho definitely got in some kiss time on set - but we see nothing wrong with a live show.

Especially since, though the fancy SM cameras made sure to show us every darn angle of those kisses, there was something missing.

We think the MAMA stage would be perfect for the two to rekindle their on-screen romance. We mean, come on - for most of the drama, Sulli thought Minho thought she was a boy. Since they′re both part of major idol groups, we′re sure they could spice things up on stage with a joint performance.

G.Na and B.A.P′s Bang Yong Guk

G.NA and Bang Yong Guk may have already gotten together on a Mnet stage, but they were so cute together, we think a reunion is necessary.

Besides, Bang Yong Guk only showed up for a snippet of G.Na′s performance, and while they got close enough for Bang Yong Guk to grin like a fool, can you just imagine how thrilled he′d be if he got to plant one on the ′2Hot′ singer?

4minute′s Nam Ji Hyun + Romantic Boys

So we can′t determine who exactly Nam Ji Hyun should kiss, but she′s in such high demand on the currently airing tvN reality program, The Romantic & Idol, we know that someone must want to kiss her.

But who knows - perhaps she′s already chosen a beau from one of the boys and they′re already dating - in which case, MAMA is the perfect place to go public!

Don′t forget to vote for who you want to see kiss on the 2012 MAMA stage!

[MAMA] D-2 Rankings: B.A.P, TVXQ and K.Will Hold On to Top Spots for Another Day

We’ve seen some major shifts in the last few days, with Super Junior most notably being knocked out of the top spot for three awards after taking the lead in five categories last week as well as K.Will toppling his competition to take the top spot in the Best Male Artist category.

While voters have until the end of today to vote and change the outcome, it appears the new leaders are here to stay—for now, at least.

B.A.P and EXO-K have been battling it out for the top spot in the Best New Male Artist category, and after overtaking EXO-K yesterday, B.A.P continues to take the lead. B.A.P was leading by one percent yesterday, but the idol group has widened the gap from its rival EXO-K to two percent as of today.

Meanwhile, in the Best Global Group – Male category, TVXQ hangs on to the spot for another day, but it’s barely getting by, inching ahead of Super Junior with a 0.6 percent difference in votes.

With the big day only two days away, a total of 36 million-plus votes have been cast, and the votes continue to pour in from China with the country making up 64 percent of the votes, while 22.9 percent of the votes have come in from Southeast Asia as of November 28.

The female voters continue to have a strong presence in the polls, as they currently outnumber the male voters in all participating countries, with more than 13 million women having voted in China, six million in Southeast Asia and more than one million votes coming in from female voters in Korea.

Voting ends today, November 28, so be sure to get your votes in while you can!

Meanwhile, TVXQ continues to hold on for dear life in the Best Global Group – Male category with 42.6 percent of the votes after knocking Super Junior out of the top spot. The race remains close still, however, as the duo is only leading by a mere one percent as well.

Ailee talks about ideal guys

Ailee has publicly selected Kim Jong Kook as being closest to her ideal type.

In the November 26 episode of Mnet’s Beatles Code 2, Ailee was asked about her ideal type in which she, at first, responded that she liked a humorous guy.

MC Tak Jae Hoon then suggested they play a game of ideal types comparing the different male guests and MCs in the show. In the end, fellow guest Kim Jong Kook won out over the other men, which is when Ailee revealed that she prefers muscular me.

Asked why another guest, K.Will, didn’t end up on top, Ailee responded, “I became close [with K.Will] through another program but, not [with him] as a man.”

Although we predicted the YG artists would be battling it out in the Best Male Artist category, K.Will surprised us by surging ahead of G-Dragon, Psy and Se7en as well as nominee JYP last week, and he remains a safe distance ahead of G-Dragon with 27.1 percent of the votes to G-Dragon’s 24.1 percent.

With the big day just days away, the votes continue to pour in, with more than 34 million votes having been cast as of November 27.

A majority of the votes continue to come in from China. However, one notable shift in the country is that the number of female voters has surpassed the number of male voters as of November 27, with about 11.7 million female votes having been cast compared to the 10 million male votes.

The 2012 MAMA, which is set to take place on November 30, will be aired in 85 countries across the world including Korea and Hong Kong, targeting more than 2.3 billion viewers.

This will be made possible with the help of Hong Kong′s TVB, China′s biggest channel Hunan TV and the international channel FIC (FOX International Channels) as media partners. The channels will relay the event live to a total of 16 countries including America, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore and Australia, and air a recorded version sometime later in 69 countries including France, Finland, Greece, the Netherlands, the Arab Emirates and Bangladesh.
